Head Staff

Meet the department heads who work with the Director team and the counselors to make sure everyone at CBB has the summer of a lifetime!

Head of Waterfront: Jill Roberts

Jill RobertsJill Roberts grew up and lives in Perth, Australia. She is a qualified high school teacher who has been teaching Health and Physical Education for the last three and a half years. Jill is entering her third summer, working on the waterfront, at CBB. This will be Jill’s first year as Head of Waterfront following two summers as Head of Canoe. Jill has also worked as a program specialist at Camp Wenonah. Her last two summers have been unforgettable and she is looking forward to giving campers another great experience. Jill’s aim for summer is to follow on from the amazing job that has been accomplished over the last 2 years by continuing to improve the quality of programming offered at the beach. As a group the beach will continue to encourage campers to challenge themselves so that they can learn the different skills required to get the most out of their waterfront experience.

Head of Waterskiing and Wakeboarding: Matthew Sherman

Matthew Sherman

Matthew was born and raised in Ottawa and has been attending Camp B’nai Brith of Ottawa since 2001. This will be his 12th summer at CBB of Ottawa and his second as head of the waterski and wakeboard program. He could not be more excited about returning to CBB of Ottawa for another summer down at the beach. Matthew remembers his first experience as a waterskier and the thrill and excitement that came from it. He hopes that he can instill his passion and love for the sport in all campers at CBB. Over the course of the past few summers, we have seen almost every camper successfully get up on waterskis, a wakeboard or even both. This past summer, we saw a record number of campers successfully learn how to drop a waterski or get up slalom skiing. Matthew’s goal for the upcoming summer is to not only get every camper up on a pair of waterskis or a wakeboard but to also provide them with the guidance and direction to become highly skilled and proficient waterskiers or wakeboarders. Matthew also hopes to continue to bring both positive energy and spirit across all areas of camp. Matthew is currently in his third year at McGill University, where he is majoring in Industrial Relations and minoring in General Management.

His goal is for all campers to stern their own canoe (in the upriver direction!) while still having as much fun as possible. You can expect his enthusiasm and passion for camp to be seen not only at the beach but all over camp.

Through his teaching he hopes that every camper will grow to love sailing as much as he does. Jeff isn't just excited for life on the beach but off the beach as well. Sheryl started attending camp at age nine in the Laurentians and continued until mid teens when she switched to Habonim Dror Camps, first in New York , then in Ontario. As a staff member, Sheryl taught swimming, working her way up and eventually heading waterfront for four years at a variety of camps. For the last five years she has been been fortunate enough to work in the office of CBB of Ottawa alongside Jonathan and other administrative staff all of whom, in her eyes excel in their duties.

Sherly can’t say enough about her belief that camp is a wonderful growing and enriching experience for children. Her fondest summers memories were those spent at camp. She met her husband at camp and they are happily married with two children both of whom are “happy campers” at CBB of Ottawa.
