Introducing CBBOs New Associate Director
Camp B’nai Brith of Ottawa is excited to announce the addition of Jill Doctor, as the new full time, year-round, Associate Director. A graduate of McGill University with a bachelor degree in education, Jill has spent many years classroom teaching, working at an Outdoor Education Centre in New Zealand, as an Assistant Director of Camp Solomon Schechter in Seattle and as the Director of Montreal’s BBYO.
Her vast experience with children and teens made her an asset to our camp leadership team this past summer, and moving forward, she will be working on camper and staff recruitment and development.
Born and raised in Montreal and living in Ottawa, Jill continues to be well known in both communities. She is a mother of three who sees camp as her ultimate professional destination. Growing up, Jill spent her summers at Camp Arowhan and recognizes that camp life offers children tremendous opportunities for personal growth, friendships, learned leadership-development skills and the chance to discover their individual identity.
“Children and young adults mature so much during the summer and the power that a few weeks of camp can have on a child cannot be understated. I couldn’t be more thrilled and committed to be the new full-time Associate Director. I feel refreshed, energized and have lots ideas to build on the amazing traditions that have lasted, an incredible 85 years! I feel fortunate to have this as my full-time job and lucky to spend all my energy and passion on something that I love and that means so much to me.” – Jill
I saw in Jill this past summer, an amazing energy and passion, proving that this was meant to be. She seamlessly transitioned into her role and dug into so many areas that benefitted from her personal touch. It was hard to believe it was her first summer and lucky for us it won’t be her last! I am excited to grow our organization with her! – Cindy, Camp Director
The Camp’s Board of Directors is excited to have Jill as part of the team. “The addition of Jill to our organization on a full-time basis furthers our commitment of employing professionals who recognize the importance of Jewish summer camp for our children and our community”, said Board of Directors Chair Adam Tanner.
