A Message From the Camp Director
Cindy Benedek is a former camper and staff (1981-1994), returned as the Assistant Director in 2013, transitioned to Associate Director in 2016 and, in 2019, became the Camp Director.
In an increasingly disconnected world, camp has become the centre for 21st century child and youth development. We are proud to be providing engaging programming with a focus on Jewish values and identity, an inclusive culture within a down to earth camp where kids feel safe to just be themselves and have fun. Our main goals are to build confidence and resilience. Something magical and wondrous happens when kids are at camp. They sing Jewish songs and consider Jewish values and philosophy – building their Jewish identity all while having the time of their lives and building friendships that last a lifetime. We are proud to be a part of raising dynamic leaders, people who make a difference, with the skills to contribute to the Jewish communities of tomorrow. From our outstanding staff to our diverse and capable campers to our distinguished alumni, we are proud of our contributions to the world of tomorrow.
Th 85th season is being celebrated all year long – most of all during the summer! As CBB of Ottawa embarks on its 85th year, we look back on 84 years of growth, adventure and success. The Summer of 2020 will bring the celebration to everything that is done at camp. From music in the dining hall to Camp Wide special programming like Colour War, a committee of staff are working hard to make the celebrations throughout the summer memorable for campers and staff. Hope you can join us on Visiting Day on Sunday, July, 19th.
On a related note, Camp B’nai Brith of Ottawa, along with thirteen other local Jewish organizations, have made a commitment to work together in support of the future of the Ottawa Jewish community. Together with the Harold Grinspoon Foundation (HGF), we are implementing the Life & Legacy program to help ensure the continuation of CBB of Ottawa. The HGF’s Life & Legacy assists communities promote after-lifetime giving to build endowments that will provide financial stability to Jewish organizations like ours.
Camp inspires a lasting connection to the Jewish people, Israel and our local community, providing the foundation for a meaningful Jewish life. Camp encourages kids to take on tasks that enable them to become more responsible and self-confident leaders at home and in their communities.
Members of the CBBO Legacy Council; are individuals just like you who believe that ensuring the future of Judaism will happen by igniting a spark in children to love Judaism and the Jewish people so they will lead Jewish lives and be leaders in their community. Through a Legacy gift, you will be remembered forever at camp and your own Legacy will be inspiring children to stretch, grow, lead, and live Jewish lives for many generations to come.
L’Dor V’Dor “from generation to generation” – help us celebrate 85 years by ensuring CBB of Ottawa remains for many years to come and stays apart of your family’s legacy. Help us continue to celebrate the magic that is… CBB of Ottawa. Be remembered forever with a gift in your will, trust, retirement account, or life insurance policy. If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
